FUNctional Strength
Ever tweak something in your body doing the most mundane activity? Carrying groceries, taking something out of your car, making your bed? These are just a few things I’ve heard over the years. It happens more often than we think and that’s where functional strength comes in. That is why working on it has become a necessary part of any workout regimen.
Functional training that incorporates body weight movements, resistance training, and light weight exercises can help you become stronger, more flexible, mobile, and agile. It can also help you become less injury-prone and more resilient when injuries do occur. Functional training can equip you with the tools that can make day-to-day activities effortless. Will you be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound? Maybe.
Equipment typically used, but not required as I’ll always provide a bodyweight alternative: light – medium dumbbells, resistance bands and loops, slider discs.

“Janine takes workouts beyond just technical proficiency, makes a point to get to know her students, and tailors those workouts to what physical or emotional issues may be pending in her students lives at that time.
“No matter how tough my day may have been or whatever other stressors I have going in my life, I feel invigorated and recharged after a workout with Janine.” D.J.
“Janine is a great inspirational teacher who takes fitness seriously. She’s great for all levels from beginner to advanced and changes our workout so we’re constantly working muscles in new ways. A bonus - she has a great sense of humor so I can laugh while I suffer.” DVC
